Davangere University is one of the affiliating type of universities in Karnataka.It has Davangere and Chitradurga districts as its jurisdiction and headquartered at Davangere. Davangere became a separate district from 15th August 1997. Davangere University was established on 18th August 2009 as carved out of Kuvempu University with a vision to meet the educational aspirations of the people of this region. The main campus "Shivagangotri" is located at about 12 Kms from Davangere and 60Kms from Chitadurga.
