छत्तीसगढ़ शासन, उच्च शिक्षा, तकनीकी  शिक्षा, जनशक्ति नियोजन, विज्ञान एवं प्रौद्योगिकी विभाग, मंत्रालय, रायपुर की अधिसूचना क्रमांक एफ1-51/2004/42, रायपुर, दिनांक 30 जुलाई 2005 के द्वारा चिकित्सा, आयुर्वेद, इंजीनियरिंग, कृषि महाविद्यालयों तथा पालिटेकनिक्स में प्रवेश पूर्व परीक्षाओं तथा अन्य परीक्षा जिसे इस मण्डल के क्षेत्राधिकार के लिए अधिकृत किया जावे, के आयोजन एवं तत्संबंधी समस्त आवश्यक कार्यवाही एवं व्यवस्था करने के लिए छत्तीसगढ़ व्यावसायिक परीक्षा मण्डल का गठन किया गया है।

व्यावसायिक परीक्षा मण्डल का गठन राज्य शासन के आदेश क्रमांक एफ 1-51/2004/42 दिनांक 30.07.2005 द्वारा किया गया था। एक अन्य सम संख्यक आदेश दिनांक 30 जुलाई 2005 की कण्डिका 3 में प्रावधान है कि:-
’’छत्तीसगढ़ व्यावसायिक परीक्षा मण्डल के गठन के आदेश के राजपत्र में प्रकाशन होने पर वर्तमान में माध्यमिक शिक्षा मण्डल द्वारा आयोजित होने वाली पी.ई.टी. एवं पी.एम.टी. आदि परीक्षाएं समाप्त हो जाएगी।’’
